Finch Suffers Knee Injury in Collision with Conley

Wolves Win Game 4, Advance to Semifinals

Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch was helped off the court late in the fourth quarter of Game 4 against the Phoenix Suns on Sunday night after a scary collision with point guard Mike Conley.

With the Timberwolves leading 116-113 with 3:00 remaining in the game, Conley attempted to drive to the basket but collided with Finch, who was standing near the baseline. Finch immediately fell to the ground and clutched his right knee in pain.

Trainers rushed to Finch's aid and helped him to his feet. He was able to walk off the court under his own power, but he was clearly in pain. The Timberwolves announced after the game that Finch had suffered a rupture of the right patellar tendon.

The Timberwolves went on to win the game 122-116, completing a four-game sweep of the Suns and advancing to the Western Conference semifinals. However, the victory was bittersweet for the team, as they will now be without their head coach for an extended period of time.

Finch was named the Timberwolves' head coach in February 2021, and he led the team to a 46-36 finish and their first playoff appearance in four years last season. He is known for his innovative offensive schemes and his ability to connect with his players.

The Timberwolves will now face the Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference semifinals. Game 1 is scheduled for Tuesday night in Memphis.
